Ayah 51:30

قَالُوا كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ

“They said: ‘That is just as your Rabb has said it will be. Indeed, He is Al-Hakeem Al-‘Aleem’”.

Divine decree Rizq from the sky Wisdom before Knowledge
Contextual Link

“In the sky is your Rizq” — realized

The glad tidings of a son (Ishaq) for the household of Ibrahim is presented as an instance of رزق (provision) decreed from above — news carried by Angels, aligning with the earlier statement:

وَفِي السَّمَاءِ رِزْقُكُمْ
“And in the sky is your Rizq (provision).”

Provision can arrive through means beyond human planning, shaped by divine ordainment and timing.

Unexpected Doors

Provision from where one does not expect

Rizq may unfold in the most surprising ways. This harmonizes with:

وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ
“And He will provide for him from where he does not expect” (At-Talaq: 3).
Reassurance

Support amid hostility

In the face of insults and rising hostility toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Muslims, this ayah signals that Allah will secure their provision from the sky.

  • There will be people welcoming him as a guest in Al‑Madinah.
  • Through that welcome, the doors of Rizq will be opened.
The delivery of provision is not restricted by current hardship; it is unlocked by Allah’s decree and timing.
Divine Names in Focus

Al‑Hakeem precedes Al‑‘Aleem here

First in order

الْحَكِيمُ — The All‑Wise

Placed first to prioritize Allah’s Hikmah in this context. The question behind the scene — “Why now and not before?” — regarding the birth in old age is answered by His perfect Wisdom.

Wisdom answers “Why?”
Then

الْعَلِيمُ — The All‑Knowing

Allah’s Knowledge encompasses everything you have been through and all aspects related to the situation. His decisions stand upon absolute Wisdom and absolute Knowledge together.

In this ayah, the sequence itself teaches: Wisdom is foregrounded, then augmented by all‑encompassing Knowledge.
Illustrative Case

Angelic glad tidings as Rizq

The announcement of Ishaq’s birth, despite apparent impossibility, exemplifies provision descending by divine command. It visualizes how decree, timing, and means converge beyond human expectation.
