No Laghw
لَغْوٌ: useless, senseless speech arising from a disturbed mind — what people utter when they don’t use their intellect.
No Ta’theem
تَأْثِيمٌ: not merely sin (إثم) but the act, process, or influence that leads to sin — causing, resulting in moral blame or attributing sin to others, through speech or action.

Linguistic insights and nuance

Precise meanings refine the scene: eager generosity in sharing, and a gathering protected from senselessness or inducement to sin.

يَتَنَازَعُونَ — eager generosity
• Literally “to pull from one another,” typically forceful and deliberate, yet here it paints a vivid picture of lively, willing, active sharing.
• The intensity of the verb serves the warmth of generosity in Jannah’s setting.
لَغْوٌ — senseless speech
• Useless, mindless speech issuing from mental disturbance — the kind of talk that surfaces when intellect is not engaged.
تَأْثِيمٌ — pathways to sin blocked
• Encompasses causing someone to sin, actions that result in blame, and attributing sin to others.
• It targets the process and influence leading to sin — not just the sin itself.
Pure joy preserved
The drink does not impair judgment, provoke indecency, or lead to guilt. The joy remains uncorrupted.
