Ayah 51:33 — Stones of Clay

لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ

“To send (or unleash) against them stones of Teen (clay)”

Language and insights

نُرْسِلَ — from إِرْسَال

Implies not only “send” but also “let loose” or “unleash” — evoking the image of arrows drawn back and then released toward their targets.

طِينٍ — Teen (clay)

Refers to clay‑rich soils. When mixed with water and exposed to extreme heat, it can form solid stones or pebbles.

Conjures the image of a volcano erupting and unleashing molten material composed of clay elements.

These images serve to visualize how “stones of clay” may be sent or unleashed; they illustrate possibilities and do not assert a singular mechanism.

In the sky: promise and threat applied

وَفِي السَّمَاءِ رِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ
